Around Town: Sydney Farmers Markets – Cali Press

As the weekend rolls around, we all start thinking about how we are going to stock our fridges for the week ahead…right? Here at Cali, we do exactly that and that’s why we believe that for fresh, local produce there’s no better place than a farmers market. Sometimes it’s hard to get around to your local bazaar and that’s why we always have you guys covered with our cold pressed juices, smoothies and wholefoods made from top quality ingredients. But if you’re itching to use that slow cooker, you might need to pick up a few more bits and bobs… so if we’re ringing bells, how about checking out a farmers market near you this weekend!

Why: By far the most popular farmers market in Sydney and that’s not just because it’s an ‘all weather’s market’ either. Carriageworks (previously known as Eveleigh Farmers Market) boasts over seventy NSW and ACT farmers and artisan producers bringing fresh, seasonal, homemade produce that they rear, grow or make for your at-home enjoyment, including organic and bio-dynamic foods too. Be sure to grab some of the Hand N Hoe Organic Macadamias too; those little treats can change your life!

When: Saturdays, 8am – 1pm

Where: 243 Wilson Street, Eveleigh (near Redfern Station)

Why: Fresh farm produce meets the beach; what’s not to love! Bondi Farmers Market means we are talking fresh seasonal fruit & vegetables, organic meat & poultry, the best selection of fresh flowers, artisan breads, jams, cheeses, seafood, olive oils, herbs, spices you name it, and it’s all by the beach! Also, the sellers are the very same people who grow or make it. There’s a cool range of jewellery, clothing and homegoods stalls for you to check out too.

When: Saturdays, 9am – 1pm

Where: Bondi Beach Public School, Campbell Parade

Why: Whether you’re picking up your supplies for the week or just want to enjoy a tasty lunch in the park, Double Bay organic food market has certified organic fresh food, gourmet delights, a range of florals and fashions for you to appreciate. We are huge fans of the Vietnamese street food stall serving up an excellent pho (beef noodle soup).

When: Thursdays 9am – 2pm

Where: Guilfoyle Park on Guilfoyle Avenue, Double Bay

Why: We love a lazy Sunday and we love spending them here. These markets offer an assorted range of produce – fruit and veg, cheese (the French cheese stall La Planchette is definitely worth a pit stop), meats, breads, dairy and preserves. But what we love most is the on-site food available to eat there and the regular entertainment (they even have pony rides for the kids). Parking can be a little tricky so we suggest going early.

When: Sundays, 8.30am – 3pm

Where: Addison Road Community Centre, 142 Addison Road, Marrickville
