In the month of January, the Sydney Morning Herald published an article proposing that ‘healthy smoothies’ are something that you should avoid. Although we agree that there are a few on the market you should steer clear from, here at Cali Press we pride ourselves on a range of healthy smoothies you can trust.
WHAT WAS SAID?
The article highlighted that certain smoothies contain more kilojoules than a Big Mac and a disturbing 31 teaspoons of sugar. That’s the equivalent of nearly 1.5L of Coke-Cola. Of the forty ‘summer smoothies’ analysed, most were found to include ingredients such as ice-cream, cream, and a minimal amount of wholefoods. All of these ingredients put together directly contributed to the high amount of kilojoules, saturated fat and sugar.
HOW CALI PRESS IS DIFFERENT
Compared to the smoothies investigated, Cali Press smoothies are based on raw fruit, vegetables and wholefoods. We use our variety of our cold pressed juices and nut mylks as our base, which is made up of locally sourced fresh organic produce, which is then cold pressed, forming the foundation of our smoothies. In cold pressing our produce, we are able to keep the fibre, nutrients and enzymes found in whole fruits and vegetables. This ensures that each cold pressed smoothie is complete with essential vitamins and minerals needed for optimal health.
BENEFITS OF ORGANIC PRODUCE
In sourcing organic produce for the juice and nut mylk base, we ensure that each smoothie is full of the high quality essential nutrients needed to aid a happy and healthy lifestyle. From vitamins B, C, and A, to zinc, magnesium and potassium, our Cali Press smoothies provide some of the essential vitamins and minerals your body needs on a daily basis. Whether it’s for energy production, muscular repair, or immune support, our smoothies will definitely help.
We also incorporate a range of organic superfoods such as super greens, maca, lucuma, cacao, cinnamon, bee pollen and goji berries. These additional powerhouses contain a high concentration of nutrients, antioxidants, flavonoids and phytochemicals that are known to have a range of health benefits beyond those of everyday foods. They are an easy yet perfect way to increase the nutrient value of your diet.
It’s important to have a clear understanding of what is really going into your smoothies as there can be a lot of hidden nasties on the market, but we are here to reassure you that you can trust in our Cali Press smoothies and friendly staff who will be only too happy to answer any questions for you. After all, we only want the best, for the best!
