We totally get it… celebrating the New Year also means celebrating your new beginning, a fresh go at it and the swift bash of the ‘reset’ button. As January rolls around we all feel the need to get serious about goal setting. But here’s the catch – the percent of people who are successful in achieving their resolution is a terrifying 8%! Following our discovery of that inspiring statistic, we figured it was time to get real about setting some achievable resolutions. Are you in? Great. Here’s our foolproof faves below:
RELAX YOUR WAY TO HEALTH
So many of us have a hard time relaxing and if you’re busy, the thought of taking a break probably stresses you out even more. This year we’re encouraging more moments for you – taking time to simply sit. It sounds crazy, but with so much stimulation out there, this can be a difficult task. So we suggest not going too hard, too fast, try downloading the app Calm on your phone and enjoy 10 min per day guided meditations over 10 days. You can do this in your office, in the comfort of your own home or better yet, in nature… after all we do live in one of the most naturally majestic countries in the world.
If ‘eating well’ isn’t in your top three resolutions – it totally should be. Did you know that only 1 in 20 Aussies eat enough fruit and veg each day! Vegetables contain an array of antioxidants and other disease-fighting compounds that are difficult to get processed foods. For some, it may seem laborious to chew your way through broccoli or kale bunches, but fortunately we can help you out there. Pop into your local Cali Press where we have a variety of 100% raw, organic cold-pressed green juices packed with the nutrients your body craves and some with fruit that your taste buds will end up craving too.
PUMP YOUR BLOOD
Regardless of the vast amount of fitness program sign-ups at the start of the year, gym attendance is usually back to the normal, pre-New Year level by mid-Feb. The truth is, you don’t need superpowers to get fit… you just need to find what works for you! In our experience sticking to a routine for four weeks only, is a great way to kick-start a new habit. Do your exercise with a buddy! That way you’ll both be accountable for showing up and don’t limit yourself to a treadmill in a gym… there are plenty of outdoor activities, hobbies or sports to make 2017 your fittest and finest year yet.
