We think Corn Fritters are the absolute perfect way to start or finish your day and our friend Martyna Angell of the Wholesome Cook has proven these gluten-free and dairy-free versions are a total a hit for anyone with allergies or intolerances. So if you’re down for healthy but not willing to skip out on the tasty, this recipe is an absolute breeze to make and a total delight to eat.
We all lead extremely busy lives and for so many health reasons, breakfast is one of the most important meals of our day. However, brekky can become particularly tricky if you’re trying to be healthy and /or cutting back on sugar, wheat and dairy etc. So when it comes to finding healthy (but still very delicious) brekky substitutes, we decided to put our heads together and compile a summarised list (because we all love a summary) of the breakfasts we should consistently eat to give us loads of energy, help us keep a balanced diet and enable us to feel strong and ready to take on the day, every day…
With the weather being so wiley as of late, admittedly we have spent a bit of extra time indoors. Luckily, our love of healthy comfort food lead us right to this amazing recipe by certified nutritionist Jacqueline Alwill of The Brown Paper Bag. This healthy take on the classic, homemade Chilli Con Carne is the definition of comfort food AND it’s so damn healthy; high in fibre, protein (and it’s meat free), vitamins, minerals AND low in saturated fat, this recipe is a dead-set winner. We recommend enjoying with guacamole, fresh lime, coriander and sweet potato wedges to add the Californian touch. Enjoy!
When we first came across this recipe, we definitely did a double take – peaches and burrata, what!? It sounded so unique that we just had to try it and we aren’t sorry! Considering the weather has been so amazing lately and since it’s tomato season, you’ll quickly realise why this is exactly the kind of simple and tasty dinner that hits the spot over these fading days of summer…
When we think of a summer salad, we think of local fresh produce with a bit of zest and zing! That’s why we love with this grain-free, chickpea tabouleh recipe from our friends over at ‘Running On Real Food’. Traditionally, this Middle Eastern dish is made from fresh vegetables, bulgur or couscous, olive oil, sesame and herbs such as parsley and mint. In this grain-free version we’re going to use mashed chickpeas in place of couscous, leave out the olive oil completely, add plenty of garlic, fresh lemon juice, parsley, sea salt and use some tahini to add a creaminess to it all. This twist on the traditional recipe really compliments the rest of those original Middle Eastern flavours and also adds some healthy fibre and protein too! Enjoy.
We really, really love tacos and we especially love when there’s a whole lotta goodness goin’ on inside them too! Lo and behold we have found a recipe that truly blows the unhealthy competition out of the water. A spicy raw walnut mix will act as the protein base while fresh, tangy salsa, smooth avocado slices, and a cashew sour cream inspired sauce will give you the garnished kick you’re after! Wrap it all up in a cabbage, or giant spinach leaf and just you wait to hear that Mariachi band sing…
